July New-car sales
Building on an already strong summer, July new-vehicles sales rose 9 percent YoY (Yahoo!), closing at 1.4 million units. Following an early sales forecast shared with International Business Times, Chief Analyst Jesse Toprak discussed how increased manufacturer incentives (Epoch Times) have bolstered sales but also contributed to lower ATPs across the industry.
Specific to the luxury vehicle category, Toprak shared his take on how Lexus’ lack of incentive spending (Bloomberg) influenced an 19 percent increase in sales, the first month of growth for the manufacturer in nearly 11.
Mobile-only car shoppers
Cars.com Manager of Dealer Training, Jack Simmons, shared a guest article on DealerRefesh to highlight the growing trend of mobile-only car shoppers – shoppers who use only a smartphone to do auto research before visiting dealerships. As Simmons writes, an astounding one of four shoppers now falls into this category.
Service Department marketing
